Coronavirus update

June 2021

We are sorry to have to inform you that Christian Camps in Wales 2021 will not be taking place.

Under current restrictions we are not able to run the camps. Following the latest Welsh update, with the next update not due until the 19th July and no indications restrictions will substantially change before camp, the trustees reluctantly have taken the decision that we are not able to run the camps in the summer.

As a group of trustees, we have held off for as long as possible in making a final decision because we know very well the value of the camps.

Whilst we are disappointed, we trust in a God who we know is in control of these circumstances to bring good out of this. I would like to thank all those who have put a lot of effort into planning the camps amidst this uncertainty. It is pleasure to serve alongside such a committed group.

Can I take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and support? We very much hope to be back in 2022 and will be making the dates available in the not too distant future. Do look out for some short messages from each of the camps available on the website at the beginning of August.

If you would like to support the work then please contact lydia.t.evans@hotmail.com for more details.

We value your prayers for us as an organisation at this time.

Warmly

Ed McMillen (Chair of Christian Camps in Wales)

May 2021 update

Following the Trustees meeting in May 2021 the Trustees are still planning to run the camps in this summer.

Our plans are to write a risk assessment and procedures document in anticipation of what the situation will be at the time of the camp. It will be subject to what the restrictions are in Wales at the time and may mean it needs to be altered nearer the time or may mean that we are unable to run the camps.

Once this risk assessment is written and agreed by the trustees we will be making this available to all those who are booked to come, detailing any significant changes in the way the camps will be run. We anticipate this being available at some point in June 2021.

Once this is available we will then be asking for payment from those who have booked. If you are happy to proceed then please make your payment within one week of being requested to do so. If you are not happy to proceed then you can withdraw your booking and the place will be made available to others.

We will be encouraging anyone with suspected COVID symptoms not to come on camp. Should you not be able to attend for COVID reasons at that point then we will offer a full refund.

We will be back in touch in June with any further updates.

Thank you for all your understanding and support for us through this time, and we value your ongoing prayers.

Warmly

Ed McMillen (Chair of Christian Camps in Wales)

April 2021 update

CCiW Blue Camp

It is with great regret that we inform you that Blue Camp will not be running this summer. We know that will be a great disappointment to those of you hoping to book on this camp.

We will be planning for Blue camp to be back in 2022. In the meantime we encourage you for this year to consider booking onto one of our other camps instead.

March 2021 update

Following the Trustees meeting in March 2021 our position is still that we hope to and are planning to run CCiW camps in the summer.

As you will appreciate there is still a level of uncertainty as to what restrictions will be when that time arrives.

Therefore you should be aware it remains a possibility that the camps may not run, or alternatively the camps may have to run in an altered form. We do not know what that would look like at this point but some of the potential possibilities might be slightly shortened weeks to allow for longer transitions between camps, more time on the site than normal, the need for parents to be on hand to pick children up at short notice should they develop any COVID symptoms or if there is a COVID outbreak.

We will perform a COVID risk assessment nearer the time based on the latest guidance.

As a result of this we plan to do the following:

  • Open bookings via cciw.co.uk on 12th April 2021
  • At that point we will not be asking for any deposit or payment.
  • Booking will be on a first come first served basis. If the maximum limit is reached there will be the option to go on a waiting list for the specific camp.
  • The trustees will be reviewing the situation in May 2021.
  • Following this review, assuming we still think we can proceed with the camps, we will make contact with those who have booked asking for full payment, for which 7 days will be given to make payment. After that any places not paid for will be offered to those on the waiting list in the order they booked.
  • Around that time and as circumstances develop, a COVID risk assessment will be produced and those who have booked will be informed of any potential changes. Should you be unhappy with any these at the point of being informed then you can withdraw your booking and we will offer a full refund if payment already made, with places then being offered to those on the waiting list. Please be aware that even with a booking, CCiW cannot guarantee that camp will go ahead as we will need to follow government guidance if and when it is issued.

We will of course keep you up to date as things develop.

Thank you for all your understanding and support for us through this time, and we value your ongoing prayers.

Warmly

Ed McMillen (Chair of Christian Camps in Wales)
