Seriously!
Hi Everyone,I'm sure there'll be lots of silly posts here - and I'm looking forward to it (I think!). But this topic is for serious questions. Perhaps something you thought about at camp or questions that you've come up with since. Maybe something someone has asked you and you don't know the answer. Or maybe something else. If you have a question and want to discuss it then this is the place. (If there are lots of questions then I may move them into their own topic - or you can do that yourself). I hope this won't remain an empty topic Damo |

I have a question... you know when we had the talks, Neil mentioned that you can still be a christian and homosexual at the same time... I had always thought otherwise, because it's going against God, isn't it? This is a really good idea, Damo, btw... |

I chatted for quite a while to Neil after the talk so I think I know where he's coming from (if he's net savvy then hopefully he might join in). Basically what he is saying is that you can have homosexual feelings and still be a Christian. Just as you can be tempted to steal something and yet still be a Christian. It is what you do with that temptation that is important. Whether you give in to it or battle against it. The gospel is about grace, mercy and forgiveness. Noone is excluded from being forgiven by God. The bible is clear that homosexual practice is wrong. But it is also clear that forgiveness is available to all. We mustn't let our prejudices get in the way of that. |

Now I didn't attend any of Neil's seminar's as I was too young (or something), but I might be able to answer your question. The answer to your question, is the same as the answer to "Can you be a Christian and a sinner at the same time?" When, by the grace of God, we become Christians, we don't suddenly become perfect, we remain sinners. We need to work out our sanctification and it takes time. Does this answer your question, or am I barking up the wrong tree? |

No, thats really helpful, thanks! I thought he was saying he agreed with all the stuff about gay Archbishops etc... But yeah, thanks for responding. By the way, Gerald, why is your name Plebbus? Actually, that shouldn't really be on this topic... sorry |
|

Stoopid boy! Plebbus is a mangling of the Latin for the common man - plebeius. (Which, incidently, is the singular of pleb which has made it's way into the English language.) That's basically it. |

+ So it's plebeius, not plebbus?? You the stoopid boy! |

Anyway... I'm sure someone out there must have a question about something they've heard at camp, or at church, or something they'd like to discuss. Now's your chance. Or do teenagers these days have everything sorted? Do they even care? |
|
24 Aug 04, 21:46 |
+ no,teenagers dont have everything sorted, but they dont mind cos they dont care. |

+ did Adam have a belly button? |

Now there's an interesting question. The short answer is the bible doesn't tell us so we obviously don't need to know! For those of you a bit thin on Biology the belly button (umbilicus) is from where the baby is attached to the placenta before it is born. Since Adam wasn't born (but created) then you could say he didn't have one. Of course God created Adam as a man and so could have made him with a belly button even though he didn't need it. If you want to know the answer then make sure you are a Christian and then when you die you can ask him! |

+ What about predestination? I never understand this... if Christians are Christians by their own self will, how is it that God chooses His children? And why does He only choose certain people to be saved? Or is it all to do with the person themself and their own decisions? Its all very confusing... I talked to Gwynne about this a couple of years ago but I'm still unsure... |
