Bible Studies
Did you enjoy the Bible Studies at camp?

Would you like to do regular bible studies?

Would you like to be able to choose the topics you study?

What about doing it online from the comfort of your own room?

If you are interested in this then I am suggesting doing a once weekly bible study in a specially set up chat room (so no silly people messing about). Monday evening would be best for me but doesn't have to be. I would suggest about an hour (it takes longer when typing) but you don't have to stay the whole time. I'm open to suggestions for topics (or I can choose something).

If you are interested then please post your thoughts and comments below.

+ I think that is a very good idea and monday evening sounds good.

+ yer tht wud b kewl, mondays fine 4 me aswell. what time?
icon Damo
+ What time would be good for people?

Also any suggestions for what to study?

We could either work through a book (eg James) or look at a Character (eg Daniel) or take a theme (eg God's Love) or do topics (eg alcohol).
icon gorjess
+ i'd like to look at a character personally because i find it helpful to find out that people in the bible went through situations that we can relate to in the present day. but im willing to do anything really. anytime's fine for me aswell so someone set one.

+ Any thoughts about who to look at? Some of my favourites are

Daniel (young man trying to live for God in a foreign land)

Esther (young lady serving God in a difficult environment)

Gideon (learning to trust in God)

Any other suggestions anyone?

+ i'd quite like to look at esther if thats a favourite of urs, either that or someone like job?

+ I'm just reading Job at the moment. A fascinating story and so much to learn from it but very hard going.

Esther would be great. Such a fab story. I taught it to the people in the hospital where I worked in Papua New Guinea and they were fascinated.

+ What I propose to do is to have a special section of the website for this. There would be a separate page for each weeks study.

Before the study the page would have the details of the next study. Some reading to do beforehand and some questions to think about - that sort of thing.

Just before the study starts the chat room would open so people can come in and settle down. The study would start proper at the specified time with me leading. I hoping one or two other officers might help too.

Then after the study I would put up a condensed version of the discussion so people can read it (so if they miss one they won't miss out).

+ well that sounds great! wen r u thinkin of starting it?
icon Damo
+ soon although it would be nice to have a few more people join. At the moment I think it's just 3 people.

I'm happy to do it just for 3 people but it would be nice if there were a few more. I'm sure there must be other people who would be interested.

+ I'd like to join, though I can't guarantee that I'd be able to come online every Monday at a set time... maybe it'd be better if i just read the 'condensed version' afterwards.

+ I would love to be involved too but i am not around between 6 and 7.30pm on Monday. It sounds like a brilliant idea to grow in the knowledge of God and to build up each other.
icon Damo
+ What about 8pm to 9pm (roughly)?

That's not too late for anyone is it?
icon gorjess
+ tht would b fine for me :-)
icon hun
+ gd 4 me too!!
icon Annabannana
+ :-D sound like a good idea.
icon Damo
+ Excellent - We'll wait for everyone to reply and then set a start date (soon).

Do continue to see if you can get other people to join us.

I will hopefully be getting one or two other leaders to help as well (particularly soem female ones)

+ kk gd b lookin forward to them!!
