as a spurs fan i can quite happily state that the match on wednesday night was NOT the greatest comeback of all time. Let us not forget 2 seasons ago when we went 3-0 up against united and lost 3-5. I dread us going three up now. But any way, Spurs v Southampton when we were 2-0 down and won 6-2.... ronny rosenthal (legend) scored 4 from the bench. not literally. |

I think the greatest sporting come back is that of Lance Armstrong. Argueably the greatest athelete on the planet he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996 and was given a 10% chance of merely living. He went on to come back and win the Tour de France (the most gruelling sporting occasion on the planet) in 1999 and has won it every year since. This year he is bidding for a record 6th straight win which would be amazing. Not only that but he has also come under competition from some of the greatest cyclisits in history such as Jan Ullrich, Richard Virenque, Marco Pantani (who died last week), Bjarne Rijs, Joseb Beloki and Alex Zulle. Truely a remarkable comeback. All that and an American. If you know me then you'll know I don't give praise to Americans lightly. |
